Sharad Pawar refutes charges in Lavasa land scam
Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has refuted allegations in the Lavasa land scam. Pawar insisted that Lavasa land was allotted as per the government policy. He has accused social activists of attempting t to discredit the country's institutions.
Pawar and his family are under fire over the alleged allotment of land to a company in which Pawar's daughter owned shares. The allotment was made by the government when Pawar's nephew Ajit Pawar was the Revenue Minister.
"There is an attempt to create a belief that everyone is corrupt. An attempt is being made to discredit the institutions of this country. When we carry developmental work, we have to face all kinds of allegations. Clearance for Lavasa project was given as per government policy. when you carry out developmental work you have to face these kinds of accusations," Pawar told CNN-IBN.
