Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi meet President Pranab
There are fresh speculations of a Cabinet reshuffle in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday met President Pranab Mukherjee separately. Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has also sought an appointment with the President on Wednesday.
According to sources, the Cabinet reshuffle can happen as early as on Friday or Saturday. Sources further said that the Congress is assessing the political situation in the country.
The meeting between the Prime Minister and the President lasted for almost one hour. However, there was no official word from Rashtrapati Bhawan as to what was discussed during the meeting.
There has been speculation about reshuffle in the Cabinet and filling up of berths in the ministries left vacant by the resignation of Trinamool Congress and DMK representatives.
